About the Artist
MOTIVATION
As a photo artist, I challenge the convential boundaries of photography, blurring the lines between photo and painting, subject and context, image and frame, art and observer. Creating photo-based artwork that is textural, meant to viewed from different angles, in different light. Touched. Experienced.
TECHNIQUES
The creative process starts when taking the photo - using various in-camera techniques such as slow shutter and camera movement - to creative impressionistic images. Sometimes two photos are overlayed to create a composite image (no AI generation).
Images are printed on various paper and metal surfaces depending on the desired look. Texture and acrylic inks are then hand painted onto the photo to add dimension color accents. Sometimes photo prints are cut into strips and woven together like fabric, or covered in mesh fabric. Vintage, hand-painted frames are often integrated into the design.
The texture and detail of the artwork can best be appreciated in person so feel free to attend one of my upcoming exhibitions or contact me to arrange for a private viewing if you are in Munich.
Originally from the USA, I have been living in Munich since 2019.
